This is a POI I created for the creators of Dieseldome: Oil and Blood. When designing for Dieseldome I had a pretty big challenge to design for. All of the POIs on the map had to be contained within a Circle (to fit the roman coliseum vibe), but not only that, they had to be designed to have their own thematic distinction and be contained within 1/4 of that circle. This was a huge design challenge as Dieseldome has Titan-fall-esq movement and needs to be able to flow enemies and players throughout the environment. This POI was meant to call back to old school games I used to play like Scooby Doo: Cyber-chase and other volcano levels from old PS1 era games, I wanted the player to be able to take advantage of the Lava and also have to avoid it. The player is able to use the Lava vent to traverse between areas on the POI extremely quickly, but also able to kite enemies onto the bridges or lower ledges and then knock them into the fire for a satisfying multikill. I also designed the pillars and walls in the space to flow extremely cleanly, that way the player does not get caught on geometry while preforming wall runs or other movement tech.
I was the Level Designer on this project, I actively talked to the Dieseldome team and was under supervision of the project lead for feedback, requests, and communication with the art team about my design intent.
